Craigville Classes
We are potentially adding a high school sign language class. This will be different than the intro to sign languages that we have offered in the past as it will be three hours of homework per week, field trips that involve using sign language, and will be at a high school level. Two semesters of this will equal one year of foreign language for high school credits. Please only put students in who are ready for high school work.
High School Sign Language ......9:15-11:00 at Craigville (Reish home) on Wednesdays for two semesters. Please plan on attending one full semester, at least. Taught by Cami Reish, disability ministry director and interpreter.
Junior high and high school speech and debate (also for high school credit) for thirteen to eighteen year olds. This will be the same class we offer in FW most falls and will probably cost $6 to $8 per week, depending on how many students we have and how many helpers we would need to hire for breakouts. It would involve two to three hours of homework per week and would be considered one semester of speech and one semester of debate for high school credit. This is a low key introduction to debate - not the lengthy topics and overly-involved research of competition. Ray Reish, debate coach and local businessman, will start them out debating things that do not require much research (i.e. whether the class should order pizza) and then, as research skills are developed, will expand to voting age, driving age, etc. - things that are relevant to the student and readily available online, etc. Ray makes the class great fun while the kids learn! Anyway, please indicate in your response to this email whether this is of interest to you and dates/times preferred. It would require at least ten students and is open to any area homeschooler. You may pass this info along! Note: This class will likely be on M, W, or Th from 3:30 to 5:30 or 4 to 6 at a church in Bluffton. This is a one semester class.
