Family Bible Library (FBL)
The Bible in story form, 8 hardback volumes of 200 pages each. FBL tells Bible stories focusing on specific character traits using maps, charts, diagrams and beautiful pictures. The stories are great for a read aloud or an intermediate reader. The supporting sidebars and diagrams have excellent material including archeology, geology, geography, etc. One of the top all purpose items we have used. Good to develop study skills, use for devotions, use for read alouds, use as intermediate readers, and use for source material to write from. Family Bible Library was selected by all of our children as one of the top five resources that we have ever used.


Beginner’s Bible NT
A Children’s Bible, 280 page hardback full color Of the many children Bible stories available, we use this one first because it is vocabulary controlled, which makes it an excellent first reader. Simple colored pictures keep toddlers interested.


Character Sketches
Character shown in nature and the Bible, 3 hardback volumes of 400 pages each These beautifully illustrated books are full of stories and examples of character--- in the Bible and in nature. Each book is divided into character qualities and each character quality is further divided into different aspects of the quality and an animal and a Biblical character who either did or did not show that aspect of the quality. Just one of them or the set of three is a great read-aloud, storytime, Bible time, or private study supplement to reinforce character and scriptural principles.


The Picture Bible
Comic strip style Bible story book, 800 page hardback full color The entire Bible in comic strip style with pictures and dialogue. We used this as a read aloud with younger kids to give them a general overview of Bible and to spark discussions. Middle school students read it to understand the Bible facts and chronological order of events.


Leading Little Ones to God
Child’s first “catechism” book in conversational style, 173 softcover, color pictures, songs, and prayers. This book covers many basic church doctrines in a conversational style which allows for great discussions with your child. Bible verses, songs, prayers are included. The best part of this book is that it introduces many Catechism issues at a child’s level so you can discuss with your child. This books leads up to a salvation decision for your child.


Uncle Arthur’s Bedtime Stories
Uncle Arthur’s Bedtime Stories Character based stories, 5 hardback volumes of 200 pages each Great three-four page character based stories that teach morals and character traits. Most stories are family based, some are historical, and a few are Bible based. Excellent for read alouds and bedtime stories. We’ve used this nearly every week in the academic year for twenty years! Great supplement to CQLA.


Trailblazers
Missionary and Christian Hero biographies, 27 softback volumes of 150 pages each written at middle school level These junior high readers contain very thrilling adventure stories of great Christian heroes. Many missionaries tell their stories of how God provided and protected them in the mission field. Interesting first biographies (“historical fiction”) with a young person aiding the missionary in his or her adventures.


Heroes of Faith
Biographies of Christian heroes , 24 softback volumes of 200 pages each written at lower high school level These biographies are written at a jr high - lower high school level. They are excellent source material for writing, great read alouds, and terrific for biographical or Christian history. Sample titles include C.S.Lewis, Sojourner Truth, Gladys Aylward, Charles Spurgeon, Amy Carmichael, Frederick Douglas, and Billy Graham.


Hear Me Read Readers
Bible story readers, written to be second readers, Level 1: 18 softback volumes of 20 pages ea, Level 2: 8 softback volumes of 20 pages ea These readers are extremely vocabulary controlled and written to be a early readers for those who have been reading for just a few months. Each full color booklet is limited to 10-20 words, which are used multiple times in each booklet. Because the vocabulary is so controlled, beginning readers are successful. These readers were used by all Reish children throughout the years--following the Bob Books and before The Beginner’s Bible.


Answers in Genesis
Creation science dvd series, 12 volumes This dvd series by Ken Ham is different lectures by him on various creation topics including the flood, fossil record, dinosaurs, a literal six day creation, races, and the topic - is Genesis relevant today. The content of the material is excellent. Our children have fallen in love with these dvd’s, presented at high school level, but in simple enough terms for middle school students to understand. (Our elementary children love to listen to them to---thanks to Ken’s wonderful Australian accent!)


Diana Waring’s What in the World Is Going on Here?
World history told in two different 4 cd volume set Energetic, engaging teacher, Diana Waring, teaches world history for junior high and high school students in two different four cd sets: What in the World Is Going on Here, Volume I (Creation to Christ) and What in the World Is Going on Here, Volume II (Resurrection to Revolution). This set is interesting and fun; students will listen to them over and over again!


Patterns of Destiny / Heritage of Country
Fully dramatized stories of godly heroes and historical figures These stories have been a hit with all seven of our children. We used them twenty years ago---and continue to do so today. Each story is fully dramatized and thirty minutes in length. Patterns of Destiny includes such heroes as Joan of Arc, Clara Barton, Louis Pasteur, and George Washington Carver. Heritage of Our Country includes such heroes as Charles Lindbergh, Thomas Edison, Christopher Columbus, and Booker T. Washington. These are excellent for building a large background of knowledge, providing speech and writing material for students, aiding in listening comprehension, and developing a love for history. Each set contains twelve cassettes with one story on each side.


Light and Glory / Sea to Shining Sea / Sounding Forth the Trumpet
US History told at two levels in enjoyable, user-friendly texts These three volumes are great for US history, read alouds, and unit studies. Light and the Glory covers Christopher Columbus to George Washington; Sea to Shining Sea covers 1787 to 1837; Sounding Forth the Trumpet covers 1837-1860. Children’s level books contain approximately 180 pages each; lower high school level books contain approximately 360 pages each.


Character Quality Language Arts (CQLA)
All language arts instruction in one work-text book The best of many language arts programs wrapped up into one book. Written for multi-level use with little involvement by the teacher. While our family has only used this final curriculum the past three years, we have used prototype versions of it for many years. See CQLA page for details

Math drill worksheets on a cd.
This is nothing more than math drill sheets to develop basic math skills on a cd so that you can print as many as you need. MasterPak 1 (1-3) contains addition, subtraction, multiplication. MasterPak 2 (4-6) contains division, fractions, decimals, percents, and geometric concepts.

Unlocking the Mysteries of Creation
Creation science hard cover 240 page book in full color--beautiful! While we have used many creation science books, the simple format, pictures, and illustrations keep us returning to this book. It focuses on four main sections: Early Earth, Evolution, Original Man, and Ancient Civilizations. Great text for junior high and lower high school students; great read aloud for elementary and up.


Bob Books
Simple first readers with very vocabulary controlled words, 5 levels (sets), 12 books each level, 16 pages per book These little portable readers start out with short vowel words and progress up. The first “book” that every Reish child has ever read!
